Start with lengths
Layering is more about length than design. Chains that sit at noticeably different points down the neckline read as deliberate; chains that crowd the same spot read as accidental. The pattern that almost always works: three chains, spaced roughly three to five centimetres apart, so each piece has its own visual line.
Common length pairings that flatter most necklines:
40–42cm (a choker or close fit) sits just above the collarbone. It's the anchor at the top — the piece your eye lands on first.
45–50cm (a classic chain length) drops to the centre of the décolleté. This is the ‘middle' position and the most-used length in our chain range.
55–60cm (a longer chain) sits below the v of a t-shirt or open shirt collar. Good for adding visual depth without crowding the throat.
Start with two of those three. Add the third only when you want a bigger layered look — date night, dressy events, the days the outfit is otherwise simple.
Mix the metals, deliberately

Vary the chain styles, not just the lengths. A snake chain, a paperclip chain and a fine link chain don't tangle the same way three matched cable chains do — the different textures slide past each other instead of locking.
Use a chain separator or magnetic untangler at the back if you're layering more than two pieces. Inexpensive, almost invisible, completely fixes the problem.
Keep the longest chain about 8–10cm longer than the next one down. That gap is enough for the chains to sit in different planes against the décolleté rather than rubbing against each other.
What to wear it with
Layered necklaces work best against a clean neckline. Plain t-shirts, scoop necks, button-downs left open at the top, off-the-shoulder pieces, simple knits.
